Growing knowledge
LCDI is developing nurseries, demonstration beds and box gardens where learners and community members can gain practical horticulture experience. Current work includes seedlings, sukuma wiki, carrots, tomatoes and eggplants, alongside preparation for banana planting.
The gardens demonstrate how limited spaces around institutions and homes can be used productively. They also support LCDI’s wider goals in food security, environmental care, extension training and income generation.

Compact beds show what can be achieved in limited spaces.
The gardens provide a setting for hands-on learning and extension.
Water harvesting and irrigation remain important development priorities.

Long-term direction
LCDI’s future agricultural vision includes water harvesting, livestock, agroforestry, coffee and banana production, mushroom growing, value addition and community extension services. These are development priorities, not yet reported as completed outcomes.
